File Management with Yadle
Yadle’s File Intelligence enables new ways to manage your files. Yadle File Channels let you organize files from multiple locations into a single virtual folder with access control built-in. Yadle automatically adds tags to your files, and allows humans to add their own tags, to enhance workflow management and improve search fidelity. Yadle file comments allow for the inclusion of annotations to files, all full-text searchable.
File Channels
Yadle File channels provide a powerful mechanism to organize your files without moving or renaming them. A file channel is like a virtual folder – a folder that references actual files in many locations. The contents of the File Channel can be files on servers, networked storage, workstations or cloud file services. When you create a File Channel, all of the files in the referenced storage locations are logically grouped together and accessible by the name you give your File Channel.
File Channels are only visible by its members. If you are not a member of a File Channel, you are not even aware that it exists. File Channels are secure – you cannot discover or access File Channels you are not a member of.
File Channels can be defined in four different ways. A “private” File Channel is visible only person that created it. In that was each individual in your organization can create File Channels for personal use.
“Group” File Channels are visible to a managed list of people who have been invited to it. The members only need a Yadle account for your organization and this can include customer, vendors, and partners.
“Organization” File Channels are visible to all people in your organization who have a Yadle user account. “Public” File Channels are visible to everyone in all organizations. This is a simple way to share files with the larger Yadle community.
Tagging Files
Yadle supports the tagging of files – adding arbitrary, usually single-name values that can be used to group files together to aid searching.
Yadle tags are not written to your files. Yadle merely associates tags to versions of files. This means that if you have 20 copies of the same file distributed across multiple locations, adding a tag to any one of them means all exact duplicates will inherit the same tag, regardless of filename or location of the file.
Tags can be edited by humans, by Yadle’s File Intelligence technology, and via automation using Yadle’s API. Yadle File Intelligence automatically adds tags to categorize files into #image, #video, #audio, #document, #spreadsheet, etc. File Intelligence also tags images with tags derived via AI object detection, adding tags such as #tree, #mountain, #mammal, #snow, etc. Finally, Yadle’s proprietary 3D analysis engine can detect objects within point cloud data to add tags describing the contents of this 3D data.
File Comments
A comment in a search result.
Yadle supports the annotation of files with text as comments. Yadle file comments as arbitrary blocks of text added by users to add human-readable prose to your files. Use to add editorial comments, suggest changes, include script dialog in videos, or lyrics in music files.
