Features

  • Yadle works with Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

  • Yadle does not store your files.  It works in concert with your storage to add a metadata-layer on top of traditional  file systems and cloud file services to enhance the management of your digital assets stored as files.

  • Yadle does not modify your files.  All metadata, tags, file annotations, etc are performed via references.

  • Yadle supports all file types.  There are no schema definitions, or extensive configurations needed to use Yadle.  You simply point Yadle to places your files exist and Yadle will discover & analyze them.

File Type Support

  • Yadle will index all files it discovers.  At minimum Yadle will collect basic information about the file, assign an icon to display in search results, and track the behavior of the file over time.  This collected data becomes searchable.

  • Yadle extracts embedded metadata from files that have such metadata.  This includes but is not limited to images, videos, 3D, scenes, documents, spreadsheets, and archive formats. This collected data becomes searchable.

  • Yadle generates thumbnails of over 300 file types.  This includes raster & vector images, videos, 3D, scenes, PDFs etc.  Yadle will generate a scrubable lores thumb for videos.  A scrubable thumb is generated for image sequences of any size.  Turntable views are generated for 3D and scene formats, including ABC and USD.

  • All files within Yadle are checked for duplication regardless of filename, operating system, or storage location.    Duplicate files are continuously updated as files are modified.

  • Once a file is discovered by Yadle, the file and it's metadata are searchable.  Deleting a file from a filesystem will not remove it from Yadle - it will simply be marked as deleted.  This allows the search to show matching results that can include - with thumbnails - for files that are no longer on storage.

File Discovery - The Yadle Agent

  • Yadle uses an application "agent" to discover files.  The agent requires read-only to any file storage that Yadle is to observe. As long as the host system running the Yadle agent can provide a read-only "mount" of the desired files, Yadle will work. Yadle has been test with SMB, NFS, ZFS, extN, FAT, NTFS, and FUSE-based filesystems.

  • Yadle supports local filesystems, networked filesystem, as well as Dropbox and Google Drive. Access to AWS S3 is via a FUSE driver.

  • Only 1 agent is required, regardless of number of files, file locations, or users. The number of agents is determined by access to file storage devices and by desired performance.

  • Yadle agents are supplied as Docker containers and work on any platform that supports Docker. Support for Intel-bases systems is the default (Windows, Linux, MacOS), but support for ARM-based systems is also available.

  • Each Yadle agent can run one or more processes to discover files. It is possible to run dozen's of processes on a single system, and you can also scale horizontally to run multiple agents on multiple systems to improve discover rate.  Only 1 agent is required, regardless of number of files, file locations, or users.

Platform Support

  • The Yadle agent and Servers are supplied as Docker containers. Any system running the Yadle agent and/or server must support Docker.

  • User access to Yadle can via a web browser on Windows, MacOS, Linux, and most mobile devices.

  • User access to Yadle can be via our desktop app on Windows, MacOS, and Linux systems.

  • Users can access Yadle via our application plugins for Foundry Nuke, Adobe CC, and Autodesk Maya on the platforms supported by those products.

Deployment

  • Yadle components are deployed as Docker containers

  • All customers must install at least one agent at their location

  • For Cloud customers, servers run on cloud platform of your choice

  • For on-premise customers, servers are run on customer provided infrastructure
